Food waste is a huge problem, both socially and environmentally. That's why G+B has teamed up with UCL Zero Food Waste to find creative solutions to the food waste problem. And we want YOU to get involved too.

Globally, 1/3rd of all food produced is wasted. That's 1.3 billion tonnes of food each year [1]. The sad reality is that whilst enough food is produced to feed everyone on the planet, almost a billion people are malnourished [2].

Environmentally, if the emissions associated with wasted food were represented as a country, it would position #3 behind China and the US [3]. Emissions are not only produced along the value-chain (production, processing, transportation), but in landfill - where food decomposes and releases methane, a potent greenhouse gas.

Household waste is one of the major causes of food waste, and fruit and veggies have the highest wastage rate [4]. As you probably already know (and if you don't you must be living under a rock), the boys as G+B HQ love fruit and veg and can't bear to see it go to waste. So, we want your plant-based recipes to help creatively reduce waste. We're talking stems, peels, roots, zests, crusts, coffee grounds, aquafaba and all.

If you have a recipe in mind, and fancy winning a FREE month's ODDBOX subscription, drop us an email at zfwrecipecompetition2020@gmail.com before the 16/02/20.

Oh, also, the top three recipes will be posted on G+B. So you can show-off how clever you are to all your mates.
